Our client is setting up a new 2nd Chance School in 2008 and has the following positions are opened to individuals who meet or exceed the job requirements below.


1. Centre Principals / Assistant Principals

Education /Certification

* NIE Diploma in Education or degree in Education / Business Administration / Sales & Marketing
* Bilingual in English and Chinese
* 5 years working experience in school, student care or tuition centre
* 3 years management experience
* Familiar with GCE "N"and "O" Level syllabus

Special Knowledge/Skills

* Possess business acumen and entrepreneurship
* Ability to develop centre business and liaise with education providers
* Successful working experience in a leadership role in education industry
* Working knowledge of curriculum development, professional development and assessment
* Excellent skills in communicating and collaborating with staff/tutors/volunteers and parents
* Excellent skills in supervising and evaluating staff/tutors/volunteers
* Ability to network with other Christian organizations, schools and the community
* Resourceful, creative, proactive, perseverant, independent, work well under pressure
* Computer literate and Internet savvy
* Centre Principal must be able to work independently to ensure centre profitability
* Those who meet most of the above requirements but do not have sufficient experience may be considered for Assistant Principal position



2. Programme/ Marketing Assistant - Part time

Job Scope:

You are to assist the Principal in

* coordinating programmes
* liasing with tutors/teachers, students/parents, relief tutors/teachers
* marketing centre's programmes
* relieving teachers (during emergency)

Minimum Requirements

* GCE 'O' Level and bilingual in English and Mandarin
* Good at Microsoft Office and able to do simple admin work
* Able to assist in teaching when necessary
* Good communicating and sales skills
* Friendly and cheerful
* Those able to work on Saturdays or evenings preferred

Working hours:
# 24 hours per week
# min 2 evenings per week (maybe on Mon & Wed, or on other evenings that classes are on)
# Sat, either alternate 8 hours or 4 hours on every Sat



3. Head Teacher - Full time



4. Tutors - Freelance
(Those without teaching experience may be considered for Trainee Teacher Scheme. Teaching course is available.

Levels: Secondary, various subjects

Requirements

* GCE 'A' level to Degree, depending on subjects to be taught
* NIE Diploma in Education or Early Childhood Education, or related certification an advantage
* 1 year school/centre teaching or 2 years tuition experience
* Familiar with MOE syllabus for the level intended to teach
* Desire to make important contributions towards the academic and holistic development of students.
* Strive to guide students to achieve their best
* Able to prepare own lesson outlines and plans
* Responsible and passionate, act as mentors as well as friends to students



5. Pastoral Care Executive
(2nd Chance Education Centre)

Qualification:
Degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, or other relevant Degree with a Professional Certificate in Social Work, Counselling

Responsible for:
Volunteers & Students Welfare

Roles & Responsibilities:

a. Casework & Students Management
1. Conduct case consultations, maintain a caseload as assigned by the ED/CM, update records of students' case files and monitor their progress through progress indicators.
2. Liaise with relevant organisations regarding the welfare of the students
3. Counsel students and advise them on behavioural management and other problems.

b. Volunteer Development
1. Liaise with relevant volunteer recruitment bodies to recuit, select, train and place volunteers in centre programmes or other events under the centre’s purview.
2. Supervise volunteers and keep them engaged in meaningful activities, and fully utilise centre’s limited resources (due to tight budgets/funding) in the process.

c. Community/Support Programmes
1. Identify, assess and prioritise the needs of the community (youths & families).
2. Initialise new programmes through needs analysis and surveys. Collate and analyse community trends.
3. Submit proposals through ED/CM to the ministries to request for support and funding on new programmes.
4. Co-ordinate programmes – may specialise in specific areas, e.g. youth work, famlies

d. Information and Referral
1. Provide information and referral services to students, e.g. linking them to other ministries, self-help organisations if help requested is beyond the centre’s scope.

e. Family Life Education
1. Plan and run workshops/talks on preventive measures for community issues (e.g. parenting skills, etc.)
2. Conduct evaluation on preventive and development education programmes.

f. Supervisory Function
1. Supervise students on placement, as and when instructed by ED/CM.
