1. Supervisors (Childcare)

Your main function is in supervising teachers to deliver good curriculum and enhance relationship with parents and the communities.

Minimum Requirements:

* Diploma in Pre-School Education (Teaching and Leadership)
* 2 to 4 years full time experience working in childcare/kindergarten setting
* Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills
* Ability to work well under pressure
* Bilingual in English and Chinese
* Good organization and leadership skills, resourceful and creative, proactive and able to work independently
* Able to work well with parents from various income levels
* Teachable and willing to accept instructions.
* Ngee Ann Poly Early Childhood Education graduates with at least 2 years working experience in preschool setting are welcome to apply.





2. Trainee Teachers / Childcare Teachers / Senior Teachers (English or Chinese)

Requirements:

(1) Qualifications:
Certificate in Pre-school Teaching (CPT) or
Diploma in Pre-school Teaching (DPT)
Those without the relevant qualification can be considered as Trainee Teachers but must be interested in upgrading themselves through company sponsored training scheme or on their own.

(2) Age:
25 and above. Younger candidates can be considered based on their experience and passion for the job.

(3) Experience:
Preferably with some experience and can handle children of the different age groups (18 mths to 6 yrs).

(4) Race:
Preferably Chinese in view of the customer base which may need the teacher to understand Mandarin. Other races can also be considered on a case-by-case basis, but must be able to understand simple Chinese.

(5) Salary Range:
Depend on qualification and experience
Special Scheme for candidates under work/training schemed (for untrained candidates)

(6) Nationality:
Singaporean or PR

Early Childhood Educators Requirements

Childcare Supervisor Qualifications

From 1 Aug 1999, all supervisors employed by childcare centres must have obtained:

a) at least 5 GCE 'O' level credits including a credit in English as a First Language (EL1). Diploma/degree holders (with English as language of instruction) will be deemed to have met this criteria.

b) the Advanced level of training for childcare personnel for child care recognized by MCYS.

c) a valid certificate in first aid recognized by MCYS.

d) at least 2 years of experience in childcare/pre-school settings.

Please note that each of these requirements must be met before a childcare personnel is appointed as a supervisor.

Childcare personnel already employed as supervisors at a childcare centre but who do not meet the 5 'O' level and EL1 requirement will be exempted from the need to meet this requirement. They may continue to work as supervisors as long as they meet criteria b), c) and d).

As of end 2004, in place of a) above, all childcare centre supervisors must meet the following requirements:

a) an MCYS-accredited diploma in the field of early childhood care and education or higher with English as language of instruction. In addition, the following may be required:
i) Additional qualifications confirming proficiency in English are required if the medium of instruction of the diploma is not English,

ii) Supervisors must successfully complete the Advanced level of training course on childcare, or its equivalent, if the diploma did not incorporate Module 6 on Management & Administration in Early Childhood Settings.

Please note that each requirement will have to be met before a childcare personnel may be appointed as a supervisor. It will apply to both serving and new supervisors by the effective date.




Childcare Teacher/Childcare Assistant Qualifications

The minimum qualification requirements for the following childcare personnel are as follows:

a) Childcare Teacher 3 GCE 'O' level credits including a credit in English as a First Language (EL1), and Intermediate level of child care training recognised by MCYS.

b) Childcare Language Teacher 3 GCE 'O' level credits including either a Grade 'B' and above in CL2/ ML2/ TL2 or a credit in CL1/ ML1/ TL1. Intermediate level of training recognised by MCYS.

c) Childcare Assistant Completed Secondary 2, and Basic level of child care training recognised by MCYS.

Childcare teachers should aspire to attain at least diploma level of training. By end 2004, in addition to having a diploma-trained supervisor, each centre should target having at least one teacher trained at the diploma level or above.

Educators - Early Childhood

1. Supervisors / Principals:

Requirements:

• Diploma in Pre-School Education (Leadership)
• 2 years working in childcare/kindergarten centres as a Senior Teacher or 1 year as a Supervisor

• Able to oversee the overall operation and performance of the centre
  
• Able to motivate and lead staff in delivery of curriculum
  
• Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills
  
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Good organization and leadership skills, resourceful and creative, proactive and able to work independently
• Able to work well with parents from various income levels
• Those with 2 years teaching experience and DPEL but without supervisory experience may be considered for Assistant Supervisor position.

4. Childcare Teachers / Snr Teachers (English or Chinese)

Requirements:

• Love for children and the desire to make important contributions towards their holistic development.
• Certificate / Diploma in Pre-School Teaching (English / Chinese)
• Min 1 year experience working with young children
  
• Senior Teacher must have more than 3 years experience, DPET trained, and with leadership quality
• Those w/o the above qualification but with min 3 'O' levels may be considered as Trainee Teachers, but must be willing to be sponsored for training courses.
• Singaporean or SPR, except for Chinese Teachers

3. Assistant Teachers (Part-time or Full-time)
Her main responsibility will be to assist Teachers in the Toddler Class.

Requirements:

- a love for children and enjoy working with toddlers
- basic child care training recognised by MCYS
- prior early childhood experience with toddlers
- patient, caring and have a bubbly personality
- creative talent




6. Childcare Helper cum Cleaner - Full Time or Part Time

Responsibilities:

• Help teachers with children's toileting, bath, and centre cleanliness.
• Help in food preparation during cook's leave / MC, when necessary.

Requirements:

• Love working with children between 1.5 to 3 years old
• Know how to change diapers and bath children
• Able to understand simple English and Mandarin
  

Salary depends on experience. Upgrading opportunities available with good performance.
